Paperless & sustainability
A paperless organisation, with the benefits measured.
Going paperless is good for your budget and for the environment, but only if you can show it. We baseline, reduce and report.
Where the benefit comes from
Paper-based records carry costs that rarely appear in a budget line: supplies, floor space, courier trips, hours spent searching and exposure to loss. Well-managed digital records remove many of them, and each can be measured.
| Area | What changes | How we measure it |
|---|---|---|
| Paper and printing | Fewer prints, photocopies and hard-copy circulation as documents are filed, shared and approved online. | Print and paper volumes before and after |
| Physical storage | Boxes and cabinets are retired once records are verified and disposal is formally authorised. | Boxes removed; floor area released |
| Transport and courier | Records are retrieved and circulated electronically instead of by courier or staff travel. | Trips and courier items avoided |
| Staff time | Retrieval takes seconds rather than hours of searching. | Average retrieval time |
| Resilience | Backups and audit trails protect records from loss and tampering. | Restore test results; audit readiness |
| Circularity | Authorised disposals are shredded securely and routed to paper recycling. | Weight recycled, with disposal certificates |
An honest approach to digital impact
Digital records are not free of environmental cost: servers and storage consume electricity. We design for the lowest necessary footprint, dispose of records at the end of their retention period, optimise file sizes and choose efficient hosting. Most of Kenya's grid electricity comes from renewable sources, which strengthens the case for keeping Kenyan data on Kenyan infrastructure.
Supporting sustainability reporting
The NSE issues ESG disclosure guidance, and ICPAK has set 1 January 2027 for mandatory IFRS S1 and S2 reporting by public interest entities. Those disclosures depend on dependable source records. We build that foundation and the baseline measures on top of it. We do not certify ESG performance or promise ratings.
Our own commitments
Paperless back office
Our own proposals, contracts and invoicing are digital.
Share rather than own
We lease specialised scanning capacity as needed instead of buying equipment that would sit idle.
Responsible disposal
Our procedures specify secure shredding and recycling through vetted partners.
Transparent reporting
From 2027 we intend to publish a short annual impact statement of our own footprint and measured client results.
